Houtchens, Houtchens and Greenfield, LLC was started in 1911 by E.H. Houtchens, followed later in the practice of law by his sons Barnard, Robert, and Rodger. The firm practiced for many years under the name Houtchens, Houtchens and Dooley, and more recently Houtchens, Greenfield and Hoskins, LLC. In 2004, Brandon Houtchens became a partner in the firm, representing the fourth generation of Houtchens lawyers.

In 1983, the firm's three senior partners were awarded the Colorado Bar Association Award of Merit. The firm received the Weld County Bar Association Pro Bono Publico Award in 1994 for the firm's commitment to providing legal services to the indigent.
