Shane Hedges
After receiving his B.A. from the School of Public Affairs at American University in 1996, Shane Hedges accepted an entry-level position with U.S. Congressman Rick Hill as a legislative correspondent. Shane Hedges soon joined Rick Hill's legislative staff on a full-time basis and became Campaign Manager and Deputy Chief of Staff shortly thereafter. Due to his performance in these roles, Montana gubernatorial candidate Judy Martz recruited Shane Hedges in 1999 as her Campaign Manager and later Chief Policy Advisor and Communications Director.
Retiring from politics in 2002, Shane Hedges joined Washington, D.C.-based public affairs firm, Foley & Lardner. As Strategic Communications Consultant, Shane Hedges performed high-level functions for clients seeking to achieve various goals through public relations, crisis communications, ballot initiatives, and other proven methods. Significant accomplishments effected by Shane Hedges during this period include the defeat of a Utah nuclear waste initiative and crafting a national communication strategy for the biodiesel industry.
From Foley & Lardner, Shane Hedges went on to accept a role as Financial Analyst with EEMI in Vienna, Virginia. Also during this time, Shane Hedges decided to attend graduate school and gained admission to the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. For the next two years, Shane Hedges split his time between the workplace and the classroom, enriching his projects at EEMI with valuable lessons learned through his coursework. Upon earning his M.B.A. with a concentration in Management and Strategy in 2006, Shane Hedges fully devoted his efforts to EEMI, where he won subsequent promotions to Deputy Director of Finance and Managing Director of Education.
